Argan oil

Argan oil is a very rare and precious oil and has become famous for its many benefits.

The argan tree (Argania Spinosa) only grows in the South Western part of Morocco.

The endangered argan tree is a relic of the Tertiary era (65 million to 1.8 million years ago). Two thousand years ago, approximately three million acres of argan forest existed, while today the forest covers only two million acres.

Despite the argan tree’s ability to adapt to drought and other challenging conditions, the argan tree is diminishing at a rapid pace. As a result of these depletion rates, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared the Moroccan argan forest and its surroundings a World Biosphere Reserve in 1999.

Argan oil, pressed from the trees’ kernels, contains more than 80% unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin A, and large quantities of vitamin E antioxidants and sterols.
